Dodge Dakota Quad Problems

Electrical

I'm starting to receive some mail concerning electrical problems a few Quad owners are reporting. Before you continue please read index page to this section.

As to what percentage these problems are occurring is unknown by me. I imagine them to be rather small. But nonetheless whether it occurs to you or to me it becomes our problem and that can be disturbing.

At this time I have no solutions or recommendations for those of you who may have a electrical/computer based problem other than persisting with the dealer to take and make the steps needed to make the repair.

Electrical problems can sometimes be one of the hardest of automotive problems to repair. Besides involving complex computer systems and a myriad of wiring systems, there's always the problem of the unknown.

The unknown begin whether it's a poor design in the first place that's susceptible to breakdown, sometimes the manufacturer may not find out until years have passed. Sometimes it can me a computer chip or a simple switch that has a quirk.

Also theirs the question...... of the installation and routing of the wiring system, is it sound, is it susceptible to heat or moisture either of which can cause a short or other malfunction.

A short in the electrical system can be one the hardest problems to locate, to begin with they are concealed, hidden from view and inspection and worst of all they can be intermittent. They can appear at anytime they chose and disappear when the vehicle is taken for service.

With persistence, determination and time, problems can be repaired. Hopefully Chrysler has a database on repairs made by their dealers so that when solutions are found they can issue a report that the service dealers across the nation can access and know where to look first.

I'll update this page when I get more info.

In closing this addition, I'd like to point out, it's you mail that makes this site what it is.
