Hey Nick. I have a 2000 dodge dakota
4x4 with a 4.7 V8. I had a few problems. i bought the
truck exaclky a year and 5 months ago. I currently have
30 800 miles on the truck. The 1. Air cleaner housing on top of motor
broken at the mounting ears. All these problems were fixed by my
dealer. It took a few times going in for them to get it Yup they kept ordering the wrong trim piece. the service guy told me they finally ordered every color available. I guess the parts department got the trim code on my truck wrong and they kept ordering the wrong parts. The problem really was the going in and finding out they had the wrong part. I finally got mad and told the service manager that it was very disturbing and inconvenient for me to keep bringing in my truckover and over. it took away from my work and just the inconvenience. Jeff Hey Nick,I bought a 2000 Quad in June and I love it,My question is how many Quad cabs did DC produce for the 2000 year? My Quad is 2wd 4.7 auto SLT black over silver and an ARE fiberglass lid over the bed.As for as gas mileage goes I don't give a damn I would have bought an import 4 cyl. if gas mileage was important, I LOVE THE POWER! Thanks for a great site. Ken Nick, This is Ken again I forgot to mention that my Quad has the towing package, oil cooler, heavy duty trans cooler, tinted windows, sliding rear window, Infinity sound system with CD player and EQ 15x7 aluminum alloy wheels, fog lights, it has every option except power drivers seat and radio controls on back of steering wheel.Once again I would like to Thank You for a great site. Slt,Aluminum Wheels With Matching Spare Full Undercoating Nick, I love this site. I would like to share with some of my expierience with towing and my QC. I have a 4.7L and tow often a 24' camper trailer that weighs in at about 4800lbs (dry). I am amazed at what this little 4.7 can do. With OD off I can pull 60mph @2500 (level ground). Hills, well that something different. I had two trips last year in the High Sierras (10,000' altitude) there is a portion of road going over the Yuba Pass that is steep and twisty. The truck pulled OK Very slow in low gear but we managed. I would of preffered a bigger motor at that time, but I think I was asking a bit much of my 4.7. In hot weather towing my gauge rose a little and held at a reasonable temp no real concerns at all. I wonder what increases a 5.9L motor brings? My truck of course has the tow package and outfiited electric brakes.I have put a K&N drop in replacement filter and a Gibson CatBack exhaust both of which did make a improvement in power and mileage. What I love most is that My littl!e Dakota after towing a 24' camper with my wife and kids can still go 4 wheelin on these narrow jeep trails, Lets see you do that with a full size Burban orExpedition. Iam looking into a Mopar PCM for my
truck I dont know if that is recommended for pulling a
trailer though, Iam looking into that. Any info you have
about Mopars PCM would be great (Part Number: P5007213WA,

Automatic , Overdrive / Rear: 3.21 /4x4: Full Time : Nick. I leased a 2001 dakota quad cab 4.7 liter engine 4x4 with the new full time all wheel drive option. The sticker price was about $28,500. Two days after I got the truck the check engine light came on. I took it to one dealer and they told me I did not put the gas cap on thight enough. Two days after the check engine light was reset the light came on again. I took it to a different dealer and they said I had a leak in the EVAP pump, they replaced it. Two to three days after the new EVAP pump was put on, the check engine light came on again. Took it back to the dealer they said they were going to call dodges technical line, they did not know what else to do. Dodge told them to put on a new fuel seal, gas cap, and a new fuel tank on the truck. About six weeks after all this new stuff was put on, the check engine light came on again. Took it back to the dealer the said the computer was giving all sorts of strange codes to the truck, so they replaced the computer. Five days after the new computer was put in, the check engine light came on again. Took it back again to the dealer again. This time they told me the problem was 32 starts ago, this is when the system went haywire. As of 02/12/01 the dealer got dodge engineers involved becuse they dont know what else to do. The truck has never had any mechanical probems, always starts, never stalls, and has never given me any other problems. I love the truck and love the way it looks handles and drives. If this happens again i will be doing the paper work for the lemon law. And will be driving a new 2001 dakota quad 4x4. Matt |
