Subject: Concern / Missing interior light

Hi there!

Great Site!! One of the reasons I bought my DDQC was the great reviews from your page! Here is a stupid question...

I got the bucket seats upgrade with the center console.Everywhere I look (owners manual, 4adodge.com, etc) It mentions an interior light in the floor console. I don't have
one!! My salesman was clueless (light? what light? I don't think there is supposed to be a light)

Is this something they discontinued, or did they just not install one for me!?

thanks,
Marc

Subject: Gas / Mileage

Hi Nick, I just purchased my 2000 4X4 Quad cab in December of 2000. It has the 4.7 engine and 4 speed automatic. I'm not getting the mileage that the sticker said which was 17 city/25highway MPG.

The dealer tells me however that the break in won't change the mileage, however around 12000 kilometers the computer on board will in fact lean out the engine and I will definately notice the difference.

I noticed your mileage charts didn't look the same as my sticker mileage, for the 4.7. would you know why? Thanks for the reading,

Doug

Subject: Problems

Hi Nick,

Emailed last week to say no problems with my '01 qc, but much has changed, unfortunately. I seem to have a slow oil leak, ending up on the front of trans housing. Can't find it. Both motor mounts were not even hand tight, which I'm hoping didn't cause any damage before tightened.

The thing really killing me now is that the rear axle is offset by 1/2" to the right. Left rear wheel is flush to fender, right sticks out 1/2". Measured drum to frame, and it too is 1/2" off. Any ideas or input on this. I hate to think this thing is bent, but don't know how else this could be?

Thanks for being out there,

Mark

Hello Nick,

Thank you for the calming input. I guess there is comfort in numbers, so good to know that your is the same. When I get a minute, I'll go through measurements thoroughly to try and spot what is off. Also, service rep at my local dealer was real curious when I mentioned this. He's presently looking at cars on the lot for an informal review of the issue. Seems very interested in finding an answer. Also really frustrated about oil, and very willing to work with me. Good guy so far.

Thanks again,

Mark

I would just like to compliment you on an outstanding site. I am looking forward to more information. I am thinking about removing all the badging on my silver quad, and was wondering if anybody that has done this has any pics to show. I am also looking at getting a bed cap, and am looking for recommendations. Again, a great site.

Hello

Very nice site!! Thank you. I've owned a 88 Dakota long bed since 1990 and use it to haul my dirt bikes. I still have the truck and the dirt bikes, but have added a wife and two kids! I'd like to stay with dodge.

Has anyone had any experience tying motorbikes down in back? (tailgate down of course) Thanks again for a great site.

Steve

I have the 4.7,auto,3.92 rear and all the rest of the goodies. Does not perform as well as my former 5.2,5spd, reg cab but we are talking about 400+ pounds on the quad. Still very happy with the power. Pulls great down low.

When the truck gets broken in I plan on making some performance mods (exhaust, intake). Is there a chip anyone has purchased (feed back)? I have to get rid of the 97mph limiter! Not that i drive over 97mph often but hate the fact that I can't.

What's this SpiralMax? I hear the same "whoooshing" noise with the heater. Turned the knob to high/low and it went away.

Driving to Florida(from indiana) in a few weeks, let you know about gas mileage. Towing a waverunner and motorcycle in bed. 16-17.5 mpg with former truck(70mph).later,
