Subject: Problems / Air system On the heating and cooling system (inside air temp), I have noticed that when I have the air flow set to the floor only, I get a whisle. If I set the control off one click, the problem goes away. I am assuming a leak in one of the internal seals but will live with the problem until the factory comes out with a fix and mine isn't their trouble shooting project. RC State: Minnesota /
Year: 2001 / Color: No Response / Engine: 4.7 Subject: Follow Up Mail Thanks for the note back. Great that you've provided the site, as it seems qc owners have pretty common goals for their trucks. I'll be back often. Thanks again, Subject: Performance / Spiralmax one of your mail posts mentioned an accessory called a Spiralmax. What is it? Any experience or other feedback with it. Obviously that guy really liked it. Hard to believe his mileage figure (26 mpg). Let me know. thanx. craig State: Oklahoma / Year:
2001 / Color: Bright White / Engine: 4.7 Subject: Accesories / Tonneau Cover Just wanted to drop a quick line and say that I love the site. While browsing, I see that you are contemplating the purchase of a tonneau cover. For what it is worth, I got D-C to through in a gull-wing tonneau cover when I bought my Quad Cab. Run over to http://24.183.225.248/quadcab.htm for pictures of it. While the front "doors" simply open up to the front of the box, I have been scheming on a way to create some form of suspended tray that will turn this area into an easy-access storage area...while seperating it from the rest of the box. At present, the only after-market product to do this is sold by Mopar, but it requires that you also have their under-rail bedliner. And, knowing how badly bedliners tear up the box's finish, I definitely do not want to go that route. I think I'll end up getting something fabricated. Well, guess I have went on long enough. Once again...love the site! Semper Fi, State: Colorado / Year:
2000 / Color: Light Driftwood Satin Glow / Engine: 5.9 Subject: New Owner I have just purchased a quad two weeks ago.I have the 4.7 v8. I will be sure to keep in touch with any info I have. So far all I can say is powerful blower and sometimes my radio changes the channels by its self , kind of Christeinish.I also had an idea, how about a quad owners pitcher gallery. I have a question I need an answer for. My 2001 quad is a 4.7 sport. There isnt a v8 badge on the fenders. I have seen outher dakotas with them. Do you know why there not there? Zic Subject: Paint / Finish Hi Nick, I went to my local dealer here in Salt Lake City to order my 2001 Qc. I had every option that I wanted selected including the two tone bronze paint. When the dealer went to place the order, they were told that color was discontinued. I liked that color so much, I was thinking about canceling the order all together. I decided to settle for the two-tone white/silver. A far cry from what I really want. Do you know of any way to contact the factory to see if they will reconsider using the bronze color ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for all the hard work managing your great DQc page. I will be visiting your page a lot in the future. Thanks, Roger State: Utah / Year:
2001 / Color: Bright White / Engine: 4.7 Subject: New / Owner WOW! I truly appreciate your web-site! Having recently purchased a 2001 Quad Cab, I can relate to many of the things that you have outlined. My Patriot Blue model (with an ARE tonneau) is a true joy to own and drive. In fact, I haven't let my wife drive it yet....it's my baby. I must admit, that I was a little leary at first, having had a bad Chrylser product in the early 90's. However, after having taken one look at this baby, and driving it, I was reminded of the '72 Charger I wish I still had. While the 5.9 was inviting, I decided on the 4.7 and I am very happy with it. The sound, the power and the performance are great. I am seriously considering some performance parts, such as a Cat-back system, and even thought about a K&N induction system, but can't seem to find it available for the 4.7 Anyway, once again thanks! Your real life expressions of owning a QC is much appreciated and I shall look forward to visiting your site regularly! Tom State: Texas / Year:
2001 / Color: Patriot Blue Pearl Coat / Engine: 4.7 Subject: Problems / Minor Hi Nick! I bought a 2000 Dakota Sport Quad Cab in Jan. 2000. 4.7 V8. Sweet truck! Problems I've had were: throttle position sensor died (I was stuck at the grocery store for about an hour - it wouldn't start)Dealer replaced it. Also, if I turn the wheels all the way to the right or left and drive over a bump or anything to compress the struts it makes a loud clunking noise. Dealer says I'm nuts. Gas mileage is getting better 11mpg when new & 15.5mpg a year later. Rob State: Wisconsin /

Year: 2000 / Color: Flame Red / Engine: 4.7 Subject: Problems Brake problems anyone.. I have had my Quad since Feb 00 and at about 8000 miles the brakes started to hop not a little rotor hot spot but between 40 and 30 mph the rapid pulse was intense enough to shake a briefcase to the floor and make your coffee splash out of the little holes on the lid. This varies slightly but it always hops when slowing and is most noticable between 40 and 30. I had to take the service tech on a road test to prove that it was a problem. Of course they have never had such a problem. I have had it in to the dealer 4 times and all they have done is replace the factory shoes twice and the last time with after market softer shoes and replaced the rear drums, of course this was all on separate service trips. No help. Now they are telling me that this is an engineering issue and the factory will work on it. How are your brakes? Let me know schooker@bigplanet.com I know of 4 other owners that have this exact problem and 1 other with a Dakota 2dr. Maybe it's time for a recall on this interesting brake system. The one I drive only has the abs for the rear wheels. This problem usually happens as I slow for a light between 40 and 30. It does not hop any other time. It is really a weird deal and the Techs are just lost about the problem. You might still get the Quad Hop since your just turning into 9000. Good Luck Thanks State: Utah / Year:
