Subject: Accessories / Performance Hi Nick. I think the K&N Filter helps the engine breath easier and probably contributes to the fuel mileage. The cat-back exhaust definitely gives the truck a throaty rumble that my friends love to hear. It sounds like a muscle car. I took it to the drags one time just to see what would happen. The performance was equal to the Durango R/T 5.9. The time slip was 16.48 seconds, this with a truck that weighs almost 5000 pounds with me in it. I'm glad I found your site so I could share some info with other owners. Thanks Subject: Purchasing Hi my name is Pat. I get to pickup my Red Sport Quadcab 4x4 in 2 weeks. I noticed that you have a fiberglass tonneau, what brand is it and are you satisfied with it? I did notice the noisey fan when I test drove the vehicles and decided I could put up with it since this is the only truck in the size I was looking for and it's looks are far superior to all others and has a V8 The only other truck I considered was the Ford Sportrack but there was too much plastic for me and no power. This is a great sight and by the way Nice Truck! State: Wisconsin /
Year: 2001 / Color: Flame Red / Engine: 4.7 Subject: Problems / Transmision I have had my 2001 Quad Cab for about two weeks now and I love it! I have the 4.7 and multi-speed transmission and have one question/concern: when I am cruising down the highway and then let off the accelerator there seems to be a high pitched whinning noise. Is it the multi-speed transmition down shifting or something like that? Please let me know if anyone else has this phenomena. The site is great. State: Minnesota /

Time Subject: Performance We purchased a 2000 Dakota Quad Cab Sport about four months ago. We were in the market for a four door pickup, but the problem was, my wife was, and i stress was, an avid Ford fan. We stopped by the Ford dealership, checked out the chunks of aluminum they offered, I let her salivate for a while, then I mentioned to go "just see" what Dodge had to offer. We pulled in, the saleman explained they had no four door Rams, but here is the Dakota Quad. There she was, one 2000 model left in the midst of all the new 2001's, ( I am not impressed with the 2001 model, Dodge should have stuck with the original interior concept from the 2000 model) ofcourse, the Sport model with the NG 4.7 Litre sang to me. My wife proceeded to peer into the 2001 V6 SLT models (Gas mileage was an issue), so I mentioned to the salesman to get the key to the 2000 Red Sport. My wife drove it, the rest is history. The only problem we have had is with the keyless entry remotes, had to take one back twice to get i! t reprogrammed. This truck rules, totally. My brother-in-law bought a 2001 King Cab Ram with the 5.2 Litre, no comparison. The first night we took her home I blew away a Single Cab Ram Sport, loaded with my wife, me, and the three kids. Everywhere we go, people salivate, it's great. Jim State: Tennessee /

Manual / Overdrive: Yes / Rear: 3.55 Subject: Mileage Just filled my 2001 QC 4.7l auto, 2wd for the first time, and got 15.5 mpg. This is probably 1/3 freeway, 2/3 traffic or slow street driving. I was going easy on it, as only 300 miles, but still pretty pleased that it did this well. My onboard computer said I got 17.8, but based on actual gas consumed, the 15.5 is more accurate. Also, have had the truck a week now and not a single problem, minor or otherwise. can't say that about some very expensive euro cars I've owned. So far, so good! Mark State: California /
