Subject: Purchasing

Hello Nick,

I'm a Gov. employee working over here in Kosovo. I have been searching the Net for a New Truck. Your site helped me decide on a Dakota Quad.

I'm in the process of purchaseing one from a Dealer in my home town. Found there web site and called them. They had just what I wanted on the Lot. Bronze Pearl/Silver Break,Quad SLT,SLT Plus Decor,Leather Seats,4.7 V8,Automatic,Top of the line CD player ect.ect. You should of heard his voice when I told him I was calling from Kosovo.

We are working out a way to close the deal useing e-mail and Fed-EX before the incentives run out. I'll let you know how I make out. If everything goes well I should have it sitting in my driveway when I return the end of April.

Great site, Chrysler/Dodge should throw you a few $$$$$ I'm sure you helped sell quite a few Dakota's

Have a Good One
Rick

Subject: Purchasing / Options / Accessories

Nick, I purchased my Quad Cab in October. It was the first vehicle I ever actually ordered. I was trading in my 96 SLT club cab 4X4 V8(my second dakota, my first a 95 SLT Club Cab 4X2 V8).

What can I say, I have children (3). One of the first trips I made was to Buffalo NY at christmas (during a blizzard, no problems). My mother in-law fell asleep in the rear seat, said it was more comfortable than most cars.

I went full bore with this one. All options except the 4X4. This one a 2001 Sport, 5.9ltr V8, 4 spd Trans, Sport Plus group, Black, Leather group, Alarm group, Trailer group, Deluxe group, Pwr Overhead group, 4 Whl Anti lock, Anti Spin Diff, Sliding Rr Wind, Pwr Seat, AM/FM/Cass/Cd/Eqaul/Steering Whl Controls, Leather Steering Whl, and Hvy Duty Service Group.Actually the only two options not taken were 4X4, and large mirrors. Sticker was about 28.1K, purchased for $500 over cost (about 25.9K).

After purchase I added the R/T wheel flares (which are not avail on a! 4X2 Quad), a ARE "Z" series cap, Dodge window visor/defectors, and removed all decals.

I plan to add a Cat Back Exhaust sys, a air intake sys, and a Chip (maybe a "slight" lowering). If dodge would have offered a R/T Quad, I would have opted that. I have a few questions though. How will the Cat Back, Air intake, and Chip effect my warrantee?

Also the air/Heat system seems to have a lot more fan noise than either of my other dakotas. Although the air is coming out of the right ducts it seems as though there might be some blockage.

I have not been able to compare with any other 2001s, and my first service is not yet scheduled (and I do plan to ask then, but you might have some insight). What other performance and MPG upgrades are recommended?

Other than that have had no problems with my dakota, as well as either of the previous dakotas. I have had other Mopars, and I am a satisfied Mopar driver.

Your Web site is excellent and I plan to visit frequently. Thank You. My na! me is Alan D. Polonczyk (alpo@delanet.com) in Elsinboro NJ. Will send pics when weather gets nice enough to support.

Subject: Happy Owner

Hi there Nick. I love your site. Actually thinking of starting one of my own. I have had this truck 2 weeks now and I love it.

Bought it used at carmax and don't know about the rear-end gear ratio.

Two concerns. I hear a "whining" sound in the rear end when I turn hard left or right, and the second is that the gear shifter linkage is loose I think. There is alot of slop in the shifter. It is still under factory warranty and I am going to take it in and have them check both of them out. Other than those 2... I AM IN LOVE!

I can't upload any pictures right now, but I will definitely send you some soon. Thanks again. Great site!

Subject: Accesories / Mopar

I have a 2000 Quad 4x4 SLT etc.... I installed the Mopar roof rack, here is a warning, this thing is noisy, lots of wind noise.

Come to Northern Virgina and drive mine before you get the rack. I can be reached at klangan499@cs.com. But otherwise the truck is great.

It is faster, quieter, stops better, handles better, and more comfortable than my wifes $40k+ Land Rover.

Subject: Follow Up Mail / Defects

Yes, boys will indeed be boys. While reading some of the letters, I was reminded of the local snowmobile enthusiasts who are never satisfied with their sleds "out-of-the-crate".

My assembly-line defects were a dent in the hood (from the inside) and poor paint coverage on the driver's door. Dodge didn't want to replace the panels, though. It was my dealer's fault for accepting the vehicle with the damage.

My wife and I both enjoy the five-speed transmission. She thought at first that she may have let me lead her in the wrong direction. But since she has logged a few thousand miles on it, it has once again become second nature.

The noise that we are hearing is from the floor ducts. The noise goes away entirely if we blend it with any of the other ducts. I heard through a tool shop that Dodge may be addressing that issue with new ducting. If anything happens there, I'll be sure to pass it on.

We are about to go on vacation in our Quad. Hopefully, I'll be able to submit some photos. By the way, mine looks just like yours!

Mike

Subject: General

Hi Nick. Just letting you know that my truck is awesome.

My wife and I got it in March of 2000. It is a fully loaded BLACK Sport Plus w/ all the goodies including the 5.9 V-8. We don't drive it all the time but have taken it on one trip.

When the truck had about 1000 miles we went on a short trip around the Olympic Peninsula and averaged over 16 miles per gallon. That includes some intown and some in 4H in the hills.

I was impressed by this number comsidering the sticker numbers are 12 city/ 16 highway. Our truck serves as a second car, as well as a truck.

I especially like the HOT ROD part when I mash the throttle. So far I've added a K&N AIRFILTER AND A 3 INCH CAT-BACK EXHAUST. Looking to many thousands of trouble-free miles.

Thanks for letting me share my impressions.
