Subject: Accessories / Performance Hi, I am from Southern Illinois. I bought my truck 1-25-2001 at Holzhauer Dodge in Nashville Illinois, I love it! it is the only one in my town, and the only 5.9 4x4 in the surrounding area. I have put the Mopar brushguard, and changed all the factory stereo stuff to Alpine and MB Quart items(this thing wails!) also have installed K&N filter, dual exhaust(no mufflers)with 3 inch chrome tips exiting at the rear, future plans include a lift kit, nerf bars, bedcover, powerdyne supercharger. The truck is great Dodge really put their heads together on this one. I have only one problem have developed at rettle in the dash area that neither I or the the dealer has been able to locate? Any one else have the same problem? It seems to be in the area of the ash tray. Thanks for your help. Great site stumbled upon it tonight. This is my second Dakota first one was an '87 4 wheel drive 3.9 with over 2k on the odometer. Hated to get rid of it but fell for the Quad Cab Ross State: Maryland / Year:
2000 / Color: Patriot Blue Pearl Coat / Engine: 4.7 Subject: Serious Modifications I bought my Dakota back in April of 2000. It has been a joy for me. I now plan on doing a lot of custom things to it. I have seen some taneu covers that look flush. This is really what I want. I also plan on having my door handles removed. My main goal is for a completely stream line Dakota quad cab. I get excited just thinking about it. It's going to cost me a lot of money, but in the end it will be worth it. On the plus side I have access to welding tools and such. so I can cut down on some of the cost. And I too have seen the fiberglass taneus that can be sent by mail, but they are always shown on other vehicles. That worries me. Heath State: Oklahoma / Year:

I just bought mine last Monday (2/19/01), and I've wanted one ever since I read the FIELD AND STREAM review of the 2000 model. they went nuts over it, and it sounded perfect for me, too! anyway, what model running boards/step boards do you and other quad cab owners like? (my 2001 is red.) thanks! Denali Subject: Shopping Nick, My name is Jason Baker, I am looking for a good deal on a dodge dakota quad cab. I want a patriot blue one like the one in the rear view photo on you page. I was wondering where this dealership is. Subject: Accessories Glad to hear from you the sight is really great. Will e-mail with some other information next week about a couple add ons and the places with good prices. There is a TSB on Dodge's with 4.7 regarding the oil cap. Seems the dealer replace mine today at no charge. Will give you more info later. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I believe so, TSB is dated 9/1/00 per Chrysler Oil Emulsion TSB. My Quad is Patriot Blue & Argent. I've installed a Jason Cap, had the front windows tinted and just recently installed Smittybilt nerf bars. The cap was purchased at Acres Truck Accessories, 2208 Greenspring Dr. Timonium 21093 410-308-1660. I use to deal with Sportsman but when I got there price ($1200.00) I told them I only had half a truck this time and certainly didn't want to get price on the other half? Acres has pretty good pricing on most of there accessories. Both the cap with darker windows no pass thru & bedliner were just under $1,000.00. I opted for the PendaLiner under rail which I found out manufactures the factory liners for Dodge. The nerf bars I bought from an Auto parts store in Delaware (they are a Keystone Auto Parts Dealer) Midway Auto Parts, 1577 Highway One, Lewes, DE. 19958 302-645-7198. Sounds like a little far to go but my parents live only a few minutes away. I have be en a Chrysler person for along time. I collect and restore old cars Plymouths to be exact. Had several Road Runners, couple of early Barracudas. At the present time I have the 2 '67 Plymouth Satellites. The hardtop is fully restored the convertible is going into its 10 year of a total restoration. I do most all the work my self use to do the body work as well but easier to let my brother in law do it since he owns a body shop. Well, I guess enough for now talk to you soon. 2000 / Color: Patriot Blue Pearl Coat / Engine: 4.7 Subject: Performance / Module Dodge does make a high performance replacement computer for the dakota. However the 4.7 liter HI-PO computer is on back order. It supposedly adds 18-22 horsepower and about the same in torque. It does require the use of 92 octane gas. A side benifit of this replacement computer is that it removes the 97mph top speed limiter off of dakota. Also a internet site has listed may dodge accessories including the mopar replacement HI-PO computer. They also can do custom programing of your current computer for a fee. Jet computers also has a add on chip to attach to the current computer on your truck that is supposed to give similar hp and torque numbers. I personaly ordered the mopar computer due to the vehicle warranty. Supposedly some dealers try to say replacing the computer with an outside computer may violate the warranty and since the #s are similar and also the cost, I figured I would rather wait for it. One other thing, dodge recomends not towing with the HI-PO computer. Ken E. State: Ohio / Year:

3.92 Subject: Transmision / Manual Nick: I noticed in reading through your mail that a few others have ordered their Quad cab with the 5-speed manual transmission. I tried to buy one off the lot, but every dealer that I talked to said that they never heard of anyone buying one. (I had toorder mine too.) One thing that is clear is that Dodge designed the interior for the automatic tranny. You cannot use one of the cup holders in 2nd or 4th gear. I have also received my Quad with assembly line damage; it's going back in on Monday to have the hood and driver's door repaired and repainted. (Boo to the Warren Ass'y Plant!) Why has there been so much talk about improving the performance of the Quad? I am not disappointed with the performance of my 4.7. After all, it is a) a truck, and b) basic transportation. My wife isn't racing anyone to work! Does anyone else have this problem, and have you been able to get it fixed? My heater is extremely noisy; the higher the blower speed, the more annoying the noise. (Dealer said, "Yup, that's normal. They all do it.") By the way, my wife's more in love with the truck than I am. Mike S State: Michigan / Year:
2001 / Color: Bronze Pearl Coat / Engine: 4.7 Subject: Gas / Mileage hey nick the gas milage on my 2001 dakota quad with the 4.7L v-8 is about 14.5-15MPG in the city and 20-22MPG on the open road. I haven't done anything special to the engine but it was "broken in" by the recomendations in the owners manual and those of the dealership from which I bought the truck from. there is alot more interesting info in the owners manual that I wouldn't have known (or figured out) myself Kris State: No Response /
