06/22/2001 - Finally!

Let's go ...... first thing you have to do to put one of these pink beauties in your Dodge Dakota Quad Cab is to:
  • Purchase a filter

  • Locate a screwdriver

  • An old blanket or towel

I'm assuming you already know how to open the hood of the engine compartment.... for those of you who don't.... read your owners manual.

You should see something similar to the image below unless your quad is equipped with the 6 cylinder engine.

Fender Protection      If you can't see this image it's temporarily offline!

Now take a towel or blanket and place it over the passenger side fender.... you don't want your belt buckle or zipper to scratch up that pretty looking fender... do you?

Locating the filter housing         If you can't see this image it's temporarily offline!

The rectangular box pictured above is the filter housing and that's where you be doing your installation and work at.

Take your screwdriver and loosen the hose clamp on the duct attached to the filter box, you may remove the hose clamp, just remeber it's gota go back... when your done.

Sliding off the air duct              If you can't see this image it's temporarily offline!

Wiggle the hose (side to side) pulling it away from the housing.

Removing the vacum hose from the housing           If you can't see this image it's temporarily offline!

To the left (current models) pull the vacuum hose (crankcase air intake?) away from the filter housing.

Location of spring locks              If you can't see this image it's temporarily offline!

As your body and eyes zooms in closer to the housing... you can begin the installation by locating the 4 retaining spring clips than hold the upper part of the filter housing to the base unit housing.

Inserting a screwdriver as pictured....pry against the upper housing and the inward side of the spring clip.
 
 
There's a total of 4 clips that have to be released.
