I Had A Dream
| Well......... not
actually a dream like the one you might have at night
..... something like a day dream that's lately been a
reoccurring thought. It goes something like this..... It's a sunny May day and I was taking a slow ride down to the local fishing hole, about 15 miles away. Generally I'm always rushing somewhere and lately haven't slowed down enough ( in mind) to take the time to enjoy the purring of the my 4.7 engine as it's rpms wind up and down on the peaks and valley's of the country road that takes me to the closest fishing spot near home. I was looking forward to testing out my new rod real comb and to see if I could pull anymore of the stocked rainbow trout out of the over fished stream, know as the Gunpowder. I wasn't really expecting to catch any fish but liked coming here to feel the tranquility of this area and to hear the sound of the " I ain't in no goddam hurry " song that comes from the meandering stream. There I was....... getting out of the truck when along the long stretch of road that brings you to the stream...... I saw an endless procession of Dakota Quads ............one after another....... motoring powerfully....yet for some reason, silently down the road. As the dust settle and the drivers had parked... they started to unpack their Quads. Some were pulling out coolers, others were setting up their grills, the children were gathering for games, the wives were laughing and pointing to one of their husbands who had the misfortune of falling in the stream. I started to walk towards them......a little apprehensive at first....as I got closer and old timer getting his fishing gear from the back of his Quad peered up and said to me, " Hey Nick... did you remember to get the damn worms?". This is where the daydream stops and reality resumes it's grip on my life. Sounds a little far fetched doesn't it? Maybe it does....... maybe it doesn't. I not really sure. I'm going to stop writing for now. I may come back here and add some more stuff ............ I might not........... you can let me know if I should. |
