Fiberglass Lid
Installation
| Well it's Saturday morning one day before I leave for vacation with my family to Chincoteaque Island. I'm at the A.R.E. dealership having my new fiberglass lid installed, 3 weeks to the day from placing my order. Below are a series of pictures depicting the installation. |

| As you can see
installation takes and extra set of hand in order to
align and set the fiberglass lid. For those of you
considering removing and replacing the lid by yourself,
bear that in mind if you don't want to scratch up the bed
rail. I'll update this page when the time comes for me to take of my lid and include any tips for realigning the lid for those who have to remove and replace the lid. |

| Above you can see the dealer blows out any debris in the back of the truck to minimize damage to paint surface as installers line up and lay down the A.R.E. fiberglass lid to truck rail. |

After the lid is laid and aligned in place the installers attach 4 aluminum alloy clamps to secure the lid frame assembly to the pickup rail. Installation took about 30 minutes. I like that the above installers took the time and effort to minimize scratching up the truck during the installation. |
| On the next update
of this section I'll be bringing you some pictures of the
lid installed and on the road, what some people have
stopped to ask me, what I really think about the lid; as
far as fit and quality go, and what I think the lid needs
to make it complete; how about a remote lid opener (like
a car door) and what about lighting the bed at night, not
to mention an alarm to protect what you keep in the bed,
then there's the ideal of auxiliary marine battery for
the electric fridge you might want to keep in the back,
yeah I got a ton of ideas! For those of you that have had your lid or cap installed, send me some mail and pictures of your truck. For those of you that used a different lid or cap manufacture, let me know what you think of your newly installed lid or cap. |
