A.R.E. Fiberglass Lid

Well I stopped at a authorized distributor and dealer for A.R.E. in Hanover, southern PA and placed an order for a fiberglass lid. Because of my concern about accessing items inbox forward I questioned him on how high the lid will lift. He said the back of the lid will only raise as high as the cab. He doesn't know it but he actually installed the lid pictured above a while back. It may be an optical illusion but it seems to me the lid goes up a bit higher than the cab.

I place my order 07/07/00 and was told it would be 3 to 4 weeks before shipping, about the end of July.

The owner of this dealership informed me that A.R.E issued a notice referencing problems with matching the bronze pearl coat on the Dakota, as a few plants in different parts of the country were putting together the Dakotas using slightly different paint formulations, and that a vin number would be needed and possibly the gas cap to match color.

Well I didn't give up my gas cap, the dealer said it shouldn't be a problem, he said he has good experiences dealing with A.R.E.

One more thing, all the dealers I called pricing a lid required about a $300 down payment, I asked this dealer how much he wanted down he said, "nothing, I call you when it comes in". Well if all goes well, I'll be plugging this guy on my site.

Well it's been 17 days since I've placed my order for a lid and today I decided to call the dealer and see if he had an better idea as to when the lid would be arriving. He told me he would check the dealers section (how participating dealers can check the status of their orders) of the A.R.E. web site to see what the status of my order was. He called me back later that afternoon and to my surprise, said it's due in this week and that there was a good chance it could be installed this weekend.
